About Nat Ward
Nat Ward is an artist whose original oil paintings celebrate the breathtaking landscapes of Albury, NSW, and its surrounding natural wonders. Inspired by the beauty of Nail Can Hill, the Murray River, and the diverse Australian bush, Nat brings her connection to this region to life on canvas.

Born in New Zealand, Nat earned a Fine Arts degree majoring in painting from Canterbury University. After working in the commercial art sector, she devoted herself full-time to her artistic practice. For the past 12 years, she has called Albury home, where she spends her days hiking in the nearby hills, exploring high-country trails, and swimming in the Murray River during the warmer months.

Nat's art reflects her deep appreciation for the local environment, capturing the intricate details and contrasts that define it—patterns of gum trees, the play of light on wetlands, and the understated bursts of wildflowers. Her work delves into the connection between people and place, celebrating the beauty and history of the landscapes she loves.

In 2023, Nat embarked on a major project that culminated in the Noreuil exhibition at MAMA (Murray Art Museum Albury) in 2024. This work explored the historical connection between Albury’s Noreuil Park and the French village of Noreuil, commemorating the soldiers who fought in a pivotal WWI battle.

Nat has held successful solo exhibitions in Sydney, Melbourne, and Albury and has been a finalist in numerous prestigious art prizes, including the Geelong Contemporary Art Prize, the John Leslie Landscape Prize, and the Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize. Her work has won several people’s choice awards and is part of public and private collections in Australia and worldwide. In 2025 she won the John Villiers Outback Art Prize.
Through her paintings, Nat Ward captures the spirit of the Australian landscape, sharing its beauty and stories with art lovers everywhere.
